Description
Founded in Venezuela in 1959, the Diplomático distillery produces renowned rums from sugar cane grown at the foot of the Andes Mountains. Its 2008 Single Vintage is the result of a selection of the best casks by the famous cellar master Tito Cordero. The rum is aged for twelve years in bourbon and single malt Scotch casks, before being finished for a year in oloroso sherry casks. The result is a spirit with a mahogany colour whose aromatic bouquet evokes the complexity of its ageing through woody aromas. These are accompanied by spicy notes and dried fruit. On the palate, vanilla dominates, underlined by this unique woodiness.
