Description
Discovered in the Moluccas, or the Spice Islands, the clove is the flower bud of the clove tree, picked before the petals open. Introduced into Europe in the fourth century by the Arabs, cloves became a luxury product that was taxed in the Middle Ages. It has been used since time immemorial in spice mixes in China and India.
